It’s 2020, and a new virus called the New Death is turning people into violent zombies. The government’s collapsed, and now a brutal paramilitary group controls most of Latvia. The streets are dangerous, and neither the police nor the army will protect you.
You turn on the radio and hear the military announcing that one last ferry will leave for Iceland from the western shore. To get on, you need enough fuel for the entry fee and the guts to make the journey through zombie-infested Latvia.

“Stories from the Outbreak” is a turn-based roguelike zombie RPG with strategic combat, allowing for customization in team composition and character progression. The game features dozens of trinkets that provide passive bonuses, following the best roguelike design principles. Between fights, you’ll make decisions about navigating the landscape, facing moral complexities in a hostile environment.
The game lets you form a team of survivors, each with unique abilities and personalities. You’ll have to make tough choices about your team members’ fates. A wide selection of trinkets and abilities lets you approach strategy creatively, and the random elements keep the game fresh with each playthrough. You’ll face over 25 enemy types in hundreds of different encounters, challenging your tactical thinking to the limit.
You’ll search for supplies and face moral dilemmas, with an event system where your choices matter. The game has over 80,000 words of written content exploring the lore of the Outbreak and the backstories of various characters, with hidden surprises even after multiple playthroughs. Late-game replayability is enhanced by unlocking new trinkets (permanent progression) and various challenge modes.
In this harsh world, not everyone will survive, and not every team will make it. That’s the way it’s meant to be.
